Who Cares?

Who Cares?

I read the other day that if you care what other people think, you will always be their prisoner. I have to agree with that statement. For a good chunk of my life I was a total people-pleaser. I wanted people to like me and if someone didn’t like me, I’d try to win their favor with kindness. But as my attention shifted from pleasing men to pleasing God I began to care less and less what other people thought.

Let’s be honest, rejection hurts. In life, we want to be known and to be loved. The same could be said about God. He wants us to know Him and to love Him. We are created in His image, after all.

Recently my friend Alma and I went to this spot Pop Killer in downtown LA. They had the funkiest accessories and coolest vintage dresses I’d seen in a while. As I searched through the eclectic items, I thought about how freeing it is to be able to be who God created me to be. And I remembered how painful it felt to live in bondage to others. Life is too short to please others my friends.

We’ve all done this in our lives, and still struggle at times. You have such a wonderful beauty that comes from within you, and don’t need to try to win favour. You had me at “hello.”

I love you just the way you are ♥

I love you too Paula :-). You spell favor the European way, “favour” lol. I think it was tough to wrap my head around the fact that not everyone is meant to be a friend.

Love.
