I’m sure you know at least one person who complains about having “haters”. To be honest, I never took these people seriously. These people being the people who complained as well as their alleged haters. That was, until the day I realized that I had a hater or two in my life. You see, haters aren’t always in your face with their deep seeded hatred. Haters can be subtle, condescending, even passive-aggressive.
Haters are people on a mission that keep you from being your genuine self. They plant seeds of doubt. They talk badly about the things you love, or the people you love. They challenge your convictions and even your purpose.
They hate to see you succeed, flourish, happy & loved.
Why? I can’t tell you why. But I can tell you how to win. Though, I’m sure you already know the answer. You have to recognize their behavior and then decide that it’s their problem, not yours. Be who you were created to be and live the life that is yours.
Love who you are and don’t apologize for it. God delights in you and all of your wonderful attributes. I learned last weekend at the Makeup Your Mind workshop to STOP dimming your light for others.
Most importantly, don’t return their hate with more hate. We have clear instructions in Matthew 5:43-45, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
How do you love your enemy? Well, that’s another post. Until then…
Shine girl shine. Twinkle, twinkle.
