Colossians 3:23-24, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
It’s easy to feel that you are serving God when you clothe the poor, feed the hungry, and counsel the sick. But what about the seemingly mundane and insignificant things? Do you believe you are serving God when you wash your dishes and fold your clothes? How about when you sit at your desk and work for a company you may have little interest in? Can you work just as heartily in those moments? Whatever we do has meaning, no matter how small it may seem to us.
Daniel 6:3, “Then this Daniel became distinguished above all the other presidents and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him. And the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.”
Little things add up to bigger things in life. If we are faithful with small matters, we will be faithful with larger ones. You can decide to be excellent today. Check out Practice the Presence of God, by Brother Lawrence, for inspiration in how to be excellent.
