Temple Of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven in the largest temple complex in China and a paradigm of Chinese architectural balance and symbolism. During each winter solstice ,the Ming and Qing emperors would perform rites and make sacrifices to heaven praying for good harvest for their empire. The most striking edifice is the “Hall of Prayer and Good Harvests“, which according to the emperor’s Fengshui masters, is the exact point where heaven and earth met. In this spot was a marble slab where the Emperor prayed and we stood on it. Even though I believe the Emperor prayed to a different God than I believe in, I only pray to my God. I do this wherever I go because I know that I’m protected by Jesus at all times.

It was crazy to see the old ovens where sacrifices were actually burned. It made me think of the Old Testament and really brought it to life in a new way for me. This stuff really happened!
