Melita’s Surprise

December 19, 2013 — 4 Comments

Have you ever had a surprise party before? I haven’t. BUT I got to go to my first surprise party ever for my sister-friend Lita and it was so beautiful! Birthdays can be a weird time because it forces us to think about our life and how on track we are, or aren’t. I think we all want to feel appreciated on our birthday because we need to know that our existence matters. Well, Melita has been such a wonderful friend to me over the years. We have gone through the ups and downs of seeking God together and the craziness of dating in So Cal. I always knew she loved me but it was during my wedding season that I saw how much. She helped throw the most beautiful bridal shower for me, every detail was “moi”. She made gorgeous floral arrangements made from the Bible for table center pieces for my actual wedding day. Who knows how long that took her.

And you know what? She is one of those people who serves others as Christ served. I’ve watched her fly to Haiti to work with orphans, raise her brilliant daughter as a single mom, and remain faithful to God through all of her hardships. I am so grateful for her and will always consider her my sister-friend. It was such an honor to be a part of her surprise birthday party and I hope she felt loved because she is <3.

Happy Birthday Lita!
