On December 2 Clarence and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary. It’s definitely been a honeymoon type of year despite the many adversities thrown our way. I feel blessed because I know that the first couple of years can be challenging as married couples learn to merge their lives together. I think the fact that we are such great friends helped us greatly. And we both tend to be considerate of the other before we think of ourselves. I’d say the greatest lesson I learned during my first year married is that if someone is against my marriage (or my husband) they can no longer be a part of my life. It doesn’t matter who they are. If they are against my marriage (or my husband), they are a threat and the relationship will cease to exist. Fortunately it only had to happen with a couple of people and quite honestly it was well worth letting them go. I am married to a godly man who loves me like Christ loves the church so if someone has an issue with him they are simply a hater :).
Are you married? I’d love to hear your nuggets of wisdom you’ve picked up throughout the years.
