Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness. – Proverbs 16:31
Thanks to my dad I have the gray gene. I think he was totally gray by the time he was 40. I think it looks great on him, though I haven’t seen his natural gray in a while. The other day I met up with my high school friend Jessie and she got excited about the gray hair she spotted in my curls. What? She was genuinely excited and I was genuinely confused. I’m used to acting younger in Hollywood, and as you are all aware our culture is youth obsessed. But Jessie isn’t. She has gray hair too and said that it makes her feel like she has natural highlights. She kind of encouraged me to let my hair continue to do it’s own thing and reminded me that we earned every gray hair we have because life isn’t exactly a cake walk. I was reminded of the scripture that I’ve read many many times but somehow I never let it take root in my heart.
