Love Lezlie has been a part of Compassion since I started this blog in 2012. But I can’t say that I have been proactive about speaking up on issues like poverty and orphans like I now feel led to do so. I just got an email and it shared that a handful of Compassion bloggers are in the Dominican Republic this week working with orphans. The goal is to get as many of these beautiful children sponsored as possible. Oh, their little faces are so darling when you click the link. I’ve never been to the Dominican Republic so I am living vicariously through the other Compassion bloggers this week. If you are curious, you can follow them too.
If you feel the nudge to sponsor one of these little angels, you will receive this gorgeous necklace created by Lisa Leonard exclusively for Compassion. It really is amazing how far our pocket change will go in the lives of orphans. I witnessed this during my missions trip to Ecuador last summer. The ability to impact a widow or orphan’s life through care and compassion is what scripture calls “true religion.”
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. – James 1:27
If you’d like to sponsor a child in the Dominica Republic, now is a great time to do so.
