The Four Agreements

Hey Lovers,

Yesterday my dad sent me an email with a list of the 4 Agreements. I remember reading this book several years ago and finding it helpful at the time. Do you struggle with 1 (or more) of the 4 Agreements? #2 has been the hardest for me to accept.

The Four Agreements are:

Agreement #1: BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

Agreement #2: DON’T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

Agreement #3: DON’T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

Agreement #4: ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are tired as opposed to well-rested. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

Lovely post with important words. #1 and #3 are things I’ve lived by all my life. I agree 2 is hard for me too. But I think maybe #4 is even harder for me, accepting that I have a limit, always thinking that my best is not enough unless it’s even better, I really need to work on that. Thank you for this post.
    Have a nice weekend.
    Much love

Awwww thanks for sharing Mona! I love reading my friends’ thoughts because we can be so different. It’s funny, #4 rarely crosses my mind EXCEPT after an audition hahaha. I tend to mentally beat myself up about how I could have done better or what I should have done differently. That’s so great that you have naturally lived by #1 and #3. xoxo

Love.
