Dear God

Hey Lovers,

I used to listen to this song on repeat. I felt like this group Monsters Of Folk captured the struggle of trying to understand God. At the heart of this struggle is human suffering. I remember reading one of Mother Teresa’s books and she wrote about how she reached a point of losing her faith in God. This was after walking with him as a nun and sharing His love with orphans and the poor. Why did she temporarily lose her faith? It was because of human suffering. Whether we are talking about the ongoing suffering a terminally ill person has to endure or losing a loved one to murder, drugs, or poverty, suffering is painful. I’m sure we all can think of a moment when we cried out for help and felt alone.

C.S. Lewis

What keeps me seeking God are remembering the times I’ve had encounters. My life question used to be “why”? Why do we have to face this or that? I think that I’m making peace with why because I’ve come to realize there are times when I won’t get the answer to that question. Does not having the answer to that question make anything less real in my life? No. Life goes on, and my pursuit of God and the supernatural will continue until I take my last breath.

Here are the lyrics to “Dear God” if you’d like to consider them for yourself.

Dear god, I’m trying hard to reach you
Dear god, I see your face in all I do
Sometimes it’s so hard to believe in
Good god I know you have your reasons

Dear god I see you move the mountains
Dear god I see you moving trees
Sometimes it’s nothing to believe in
Sometimes it’s everything I see

Well I’ve been thinking about,
And I’ve been breaking it down without an answer
I know I’m thinking aloud but if your loves
Still around why do we suffer?
Why do we suffer?

Dear god, I wish that I could touch you
How strange sometimes I feel I almost do
And then I’m back behind the glass again
Oh god what keeps you out it keeps me in

Well I’ve been thinking about,
And I’ve been breaking down without an answer
I know I’m thinking aloud but if your loves
Still around why do we suffer?
Why do we suffer?

After reading your post, I looked around for an answer. The attached link gives some good ideas and indications, but, of course, no one really knows but God. We will have so many questions to ask of God after the rapture, and I’m sure His answers will amaze us.
