It’s been a while. I wanted to share with you all a project I was honored to be a part of. It’s a documentary called The Invisible Vegan. In this documentary I opened up for the first time about my struggles with food and how the transition to a plant based diet helped change my life and assist with my overall healing. For me, this way of eating is a natural tie to my faith and spirituality. It easily connects to a lifestyle of love.
The Invisible Vegan is a 90-minute independent documentary that explores the problem of unhealthy dietary patterns in the African-American community, foregrounding the health and wellness possibilities enabled by plant-based vegan diets and lifestyle choices.
I recently attended a screening for this documentary and sat on the panel afterwards with so many inspiring women. The room was packed and the audience not only enjoyed this film but also seemed inspired. The next step to making this film a reality for mass consumption is raising the funds to cover licensing. Here is more info on what your contribution would go towards in the words of the talented director, Jasmine Leyva.
We have poured countless dollars and hours into this project, but we do not have the funds to finish it. In order to legally use the footage, music and photos that we do not own and/or aren’t public domain, we have to pay licensing fees. To give you an idea of what we are up against, licensing photos and footage can cost hundreds or thousands per video clip or photo. Now keep in mind our documentary is 90 minutes and loaded with photo and video clips. We need your help to make this work.
Below are the items your contribution would help fund.
- Licensing Fees
- Editing fees
- Festival Fees
- Music Licensing
- Legal fees
